When interacting with other players in MMOs, you must maintain these 10 rules of play to have a safe and productive online experience. These are easy to follow and I'm sure a lot of you will agree.
Rule #1
Every "Female" you encounter is by default a Male in real life.
Rule #2
When Rule #1 is challenged by a character, then ask for proof of both audio and visual, if proof is given refer to Rule #3.
Rule #3
Assume that the person is only half telling the truth, if audio and visual are both live meaning a web cam and can be confirmed then assume the character is indeed Female but be weary, they may be only after something you possess.
Rule #4
If the person you are talking to has met the requirements of Rule #3, then evaluate what the person says and does in a third person, meaning try to leave the feeling end of it out and figure out if they actually are wanting to be friends/more than friends.
Rule #5
Don't: Be rude.
Over use the word Noob or any of its counterparts.
Act like you know everything.
Ask for free items/money.
Tell people what to do.
TALK IN CAPS! just cause you THINK it's important, doesn't make it so.
Beg for a PL (Power Level).
Refuse to take advise from more experienced players.
Refuse to go to information sites about the game.
Be a nuisance because you can.
Be Grammar police, we play a game, we're not writing a novel.
We have all dealt with the above, and I'm sure we all agree that it just needs to stop.
Rule #6
When talking in a Teamspeak/Ventrilo, make sure your microphone is working properly before you talk.
Options is a great place to start.
Rule #7
When using a Guild/Clan chat implemented in a game, don't think that just cause you are part of the clan, that it gives you the right to tell others what to do.
Rule #8
Not every game is a wow clone, don't refer to ANY part of a game like any other unless that game is the one you are talking about. I'm just generally tired of people saying, wow this chat system is just like the one wow has along with other unnecessary comparisons
Rule #9
WoW did not invent everything that any game has, if you actually play any of the old school MMOs that are less talked about, you can actually see where wow has stolen idea's from them. Talent trees were on Diablo WAY before they were on WoW.
Rule #10
Finally the last Rule.
The best approach you can have in any MMO is this: " Treat others as you would have them treat you"
Thank you for taking the time to read this, if you don't like it or think it's just a big rant, then that's your opinion. but either way, you can agree with at least one of these 10 Rules about MMO Gaming.
